Haridwar is the place where people from across the India visit for pilgrimage and to take a holy dip into the holy river Ganges. Haridwar is an ancient city & it is one of the most sacred cities in India. The diverse nature of the Hindu religion has attracted foreign visitors from all around the world. Foreigners always attracted to Haridwar because here they can closely experience India's complex culture, various Hindu rituals and the ancient civilization.

Haridwar is one of the primary areas where river Ganges emerges from the mountains & enters to the plain areas. Lush green forests and crystal clear water of river Ganges & background of mountains create the charming beauty of this holy city.

DESCRIPTION OF CLUSTERS AND SELECTED VILLAGES

The villages selected for promotion of tourism related activities are Kunja Bahadarpur and Bishanpur Kundi. Kunja Bahadarpur village comes under Bhagwanpur block of Haridwar District. This village was involved in First freedom fight. That time, Kunja Bahdurpur was the riyasat of Raja Vijay Singh. Bishanpur Kundi is in Bahadarabad block close to Haridwar city.

During the middle of the 19th century a Gurjar called Kalyan Singh (Kalua) had terrorized the British forces for years by his constant attacks upon them. Vijay Singh was land lord of Kunja-Bhagawan Pur Riyasat. He proclaimed himself Raja of the Riyasat, with Kalyan Singh as his army general. From 1822-25 they held a fierce armed protest against British. The place where Vijay Singh's fort was build is Kunja Bahadurpur. At last in 1824-25 British managed to conquer the fort with a vast Gurkha Regiment and planned attack. Raja Vijay Singh and Kalyan Singh lost the battle of life in saving the motherland.


Bishan pur  Kundi always experiencing the religious activities being done in the holy Hindu city of Haridwar. The people of this village are already involved in many Haridwar based religious economic activities and also doing work in small factories located in and around of city. It is located 13 KM towards west from District head quarters Haridwar and 52 KM from State capital Dehradun.
